About this car
This 1989 560SEC is offered on eBay by legendcarcompany in Asbury Park, NJ. The asking price is $34,900. The car is finished in Black over Black, an automatic gearbox, power from a 5.6L Gas V8 engine. The odometer shows 78,571 miles. On a C126 coupe, check for rust around the rear window and in the battery tray, and test the vacuum-operated door locks and the climate controls.
What the photos show
- Black paint is very glossy across the hood, trunk and sides in several close-ups, so no repaint money is needed here.
- Chrome and the grey lower cladding look clean, and the wheels are tidy in the four-wheel collage, so no cosmetic wheel money shows.
- The black leather front and rear seats look very good with only light creasing on the driver's cushion, so no retrim money is needed.
- The sunroof is photographed open and the headliner looks clean, so no sunroof or headliner money is visible.
- The engine bay is complete but dusty, with a yellowed coolant tank, so budget for a thorough detail and a tank rather than mechanical work on this evidence.
- The driver's footwell carpet is faded and stained grey-brown against the black elsewhere, so allow for carpet cleaning or replacement money.
- Can't judge the underside — it is not shown in the sampled photos, so SEC sill rust is still an unchecked cost.
Money: At $34,900 the glossy paint and strong black leather support the ask for a 560SEC — the dusty bay and faded driver carpet are cheap fixes, and only the unseen underside is left to verify.
