About this car
This 1952 220 Cabriolet A is offered on eBay by beverlyhillscarclub in Los Angeles, CA. The asking price is $69,950. The car is finished in Black, a manual gearbox. The listing does not state a mileage. On a car of this age, the condition of the wood, chrome and mechanical parts matters more than the odometer reading, and a car that has been stored will need recommissioning.
What the photos show
- the black paint shows the same scuffs, chips and low rear-fender rust as the car in the photos, so paint and rust repair money is unavoidable
- the chrome bumpers look aged and lightly rust-spotted at the rear, so budget for chrome attention with the body work
- the rear seat and door card in this set look worn but intact, while the front seat back is torn open, so retrim money is still certain
- the speedometer in close-up is a kilometre unit with a speckled, aged dash surround, so dash detailing money belongs in the budget
- the black soft top is torn and worn at the folds in this set too, so a replacement top is real money to add
- the trunk, photographed without the spare, shows a rusty floor and seams, so trunk metal repair is not optional spend
- the engine bay is dusty with corrosion on the bay panels and fittings, so recommissioning money comes before cosmetics
- the underside, which this gallery does show, is dirty and aged with a rusty exhaust and surface corrosion underneath, so add underside cleaning and rust treatment to the total bill
Money: at $69,950 this eBay gallery confirms the project story from underneath as well as on top — price it as a full restoration, not as a car that needs tidying.
