About this car
Hemmings listing in Sarasota, FL. 280SE low-grille cabriolet, Silver Blue over dark blue leather; documented ownership from new; first owner 1970-2003.
What the photos show
- Paint is light blue metallic and glossy on every panel, doors and fenders line up straight — no paint or body budget from these photos.
- Chrome on the grille, bumpers and sill trim is bright and clean, no pitting shows at this distance — no re-chrome money needed.
- Body-color hubcaps and whitewall tires are all clean and straight, tires looking full-treaded — no wheel or tire money needed.
- Dark blue leather seats look smooth with only light creasing, but the door cards show fading and mottling in close-up — budget for door-card refreshing, not a full retrim.
- Dash wood is glossy across most of the panel, but a close-up by the gauges shows clouding in the finish — budget a small wood repair on that section.
- Dark blue soft top is taut and clean up and folded down, with no tears or sagging visible — no top replacement money needed.
- No engine bay or underside photos in the sample, only the underside of the open hood — none of that can be judged, so keep inspection money aside for both.
Money: At $239,500 the glossy paint, bright chrome and clean top support most of the ask, but the faded door cards, clouded dash wood and unseen engine bay mean some negotiation or inspection money should stay in hand.
