About this car
This 1966 230SL is offered on eBay by beverlyhillscarclub in Los Angeles, CA. The asking price is $62,500. The car is finished in Black, a manual gearbox. The listing does not state a mileage. As with any Pagoda, the floors, sills and spare-wheel well deserve a close look for rust, and the soft-top frame and hardtop seals are worth checking.
What the photos show
- black paint looks deep and mirror-straight outdoors, the strongest thing in this set — no paint money needed on what is shown
- the black soft top fits tight with a clear rear window, no replacement top to buy
- the matching hardtop is photographed on the car and looks as glossy as the body, a second top included in the value
- black leather seats and the rear bench area look clean and unmarked, no interior spend on sight
- the dash is complete with its wood strip and period radio in place, no trim hunt needed
- the km/h speedometer is photographed, so this is a metric-cluster car — worth knowing before comparing mileage claims
- no engine bay and no underside photo in the sampled set, so I can't judge the mechanicals or the floors from this listing
Money: at $62,500 the cosmetics in these photos carry the price, but with no bay or underside shown here you are paying on paint and trim alone until someone opens the hood and lifts the car.

Condition: 1966 Mercedes Benz 230L This pagoda is a running and driving project that was delivered from the factory in what I think is the best color combination of Silver on dark blue. This unit is equipped with a manual gearbox and is generally solid. It will need some rust repair in floor pan but is otherwise quite straight. Obviously, the paint is shot and the interior will need to be redone. A previous owner fitted a 280 badge but I have confirmed with Mercedes classic that the car is a 230 and have a copy of the cardex.
