This 280SE has been in my family for over 30 years, and has been a pleasure to use over the years. It has the 3.5L V8 which is both torquey and smooth. A significant upgrade |

About this car
This Northvale 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet is the open W111 with the M116 V8 engine. It has been a family heirloom for over 30 years, with 99,000 documented miles, a clean history, and $30,000 spent on services in the last four years. At $225,000 it is priced with the best cabriolets. The documentation and the long family ownership are the substance behind that price.
What the photos show
- Only one photo is available for this listing — a front three-quarter of the cabriolet outdoors with its dark brown soft top up — so most of the car can't be judged from photos at all.
- The cream paint looks glossy and even across the hood, fenders and doors, and the chrome bumper, grille and stacked headlights are bright — no paint or chrome budget shows from this angle.
- The soft top looks taut and cleanly fitted, and the body-colour hubcaps and whitewall-free tires look tidy — the top's underside, frame and rear window are not shown, so the top can't be judged beyond its outside face.
- No interior, engine bay, trunk or underside photos are available — the leather, wood, injection and the floors and sills all stay unjudged until the seller's full set or an in-person look.
Money: at $225,000 this is the most expensive Facebook car in the collection and sits well above typical 280SE 3.5 cabriolet money, so the documented 99,000 miles and family-heirloom history in the listing text — not this one handsome photo — are what have to carry the price.
